Riverside is scheduled to reopen Mt. Rubidoux Park Friday, with several conditions.
The city council May 15 unanimously approved a plan that requires visitors requiring to walk in the same direction on all of the park’s trails, according to a statement on the city’w website.
Also, parking lots at nearby Ryan Bonaminio Park will be open so people can park their vehicles there. Both measures are meant to promote social distancing at the popular downtown park, as COVID-19 remains a threat.
“Mt. Rubidoux Park is a Riverside treasure, as well as a great place to get outside and exercise in the fresh air,” Mayor Rusty Bailey said in the statement. “I’m encouraged to see that we are making progress in getting all of our parks and trails back open for the public.”
The park will be open at the Glenwood Drive entrance on May 22. The 9th Street entrance will be closed indefinitely because of a construction project, according to the statement.
