Moreno Valley looks to clear animal shelter

The Moreno Valley Animal Shelter and NBC4/Telemundo will hold its annual “Clear the Shelters” event Aug. 15.

The adoption fee for dogs and cats is $20, which in some cases will be a savings of $100 or more, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Also, the shelter is partnering with GreatGood.org to provide matching funds for every dollar donated to the shelter this month, up to a maximum match of $10,000.

“What a tremendous opportunity to help the Shelter continue its life-saving work,” Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez said in the statement.  “Residents can adopt a beautiful cat or dog for next to nothing and make a donation to the shelter that will be doubled.”

The $20 fee includes spay/neuter surgery, a microchip with lifetime registration and vaccinations. A $15 license fee is required for dogs.

To make an appointment, which is required, and to see a list of available pets, visit www.moval.org and go to Pet Search.
