Realtors ask for more COVID-19 help

The California Association of Realtors is asking for more funding to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a recent letter to the California Congressional Delegation, the advocacy group asked Congress to pass another COVID-19 relief package, one that will help people make their rent or mortgage payments, according to a statement on the association’s website.

The letter also urged the House and Senate to continue to improve the Paycheck Protection and the Pandemic Unemployment Assistance programs, so association members get financial help relatively easily.

The association is asking that the federal government make it easier for small businesses to get loan forgiveness, make available a second paycheck protection loan for businesses and keep small businesses and independent contractors eligible for the paycheck protection program.

“The financial difficulties caused by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis continue for property owners and tenants, small businesspersons, and independent contractors,” the letter states. “New relief would help provide stability to the real estate market which, as experience has shown, is necessary to speed any recovery.”
