Riverside County returns to purple tier

Riverside County has been moved back into the state’s more-restrictive purple tier following a surge in Coronavirus cases.

Dr. Cameron Kaiser, the county’s public health officer, Tuesday informed the board of supervisors of the move at their regular meeting, according to multiple reports.

The move means restaurants, gyms, movie theaters, and houses of worship in Riverside County may no longer host limited indoor operations. Riverside County was previously in the red tier.

The county is expected to stay in the purple tier for at least three weeks.

Riverside County businesses have 72 hours to change their operations. K-12 schools that have reopened for classroom may remain open, but K-6 schools that did not reopen before the move back to purple must get permission to hold regular classes, the reports stated.
