Apple Valley’s Measure O picks up another endorsement

The Apple Valley Fire Protection District has endorsed Measure O, a proposed one-percent sales tax that would help the High Desert town pay for general services.

Measure O “will protect property values and the local economy” and the “money raised would stay in Apple Valley to benefit our community and quality of life,” according to the resolution adopted Tuesday by the district.

Measure O will appear on the Nov. 3 ballot.

If approved, Measure O would generate approximately $6 to 7 million a year for the town’s general fund, which is used to pay for law enforcement officers, road construction, improve parks and ball fields, community events, concerts, and recreation programs.

San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon, the Sheriff’s Employee’s Benefit Association, the Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Jess Ranch Homeowners Association, and several youth organizations have also endorsed Measure O.
