Shoemaker named Quakes manager

John Shoemaker has been named manager of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, the Los Angeles Dodgers’ California League affiliate.

Drafted by the Dodgers in the 35th round of the 1977 amateur draft, Shoemaker began his coaching career in 1981 as a hitting instructor with the then-Vero Beach Dodgers in the Florida League

The 64-year-old Shoemaker has managed multiple minor league teams, mostly Dodgers’ affiliates. This will be the Ohio native’s first time managing the Class A Quakes.

“The Dodgers have a long history with the California League, and I am excited to come to Rancho Cucamonga and be a part of it for the 2021 season,” said Shoemaker in the statement.  “Without minor league baseball last year, there is a great sense of enthusiasm, excitement and expectation for the upcoming season.”
