Southwest begins Las Vegas flights from Palm Springs

Southwest Airlines began non-stop service from Palm Springs International Airport to Las Vegas on Sunday.

Announced in March, the service will first operate once daily on Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays, according to a statement on the Palm Springs website.

In June, the service will shift to seven days a week. Southwest also serves Denver and Oakland from Palm Springs International.

“This new non-stop flight from Palm Springs to Las Vegas has been one of the most requested routes over the past decade,” said Justin Clifton, Palm Springs city manager, in the statement. “The Coachella Valley and our local hospitality and tourism partners will see a great economic benefit with this new service.”

Palm Springs International Airport is owned by Palm Springs. Its 11 carriers offer non-stop flights to 24 U.S. and five Canadian cities, according to the statement.
