San Bernardino County adopts $7.6 billion budget

San Bernardino County’s budget for the upcoming 2021-22 fiscal year projects a $19 million surplus in its general fund and sets aside $41 million for its general purpose fund.

The $7.6 billion budget, which the board of supervisors approved earlier this month, is focused largely on helping the county recover from COVID-19, according to a statement on the county’s website.

“We are being fiscally responsible with your tax dollars and we are listening to your priorities,” said board chairman Curt Hagman in the statement. “We are putting resources in the right direction and this budget gives us the opportunity to move this county forward.”

Board members also agreed to use $423.5 million of federal funding from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, funding that will help the county continue to respond to the pandemic. It will also help with economic recovery, infrastructure and improving government operations, according to the statement.
