Katherine Fuentes has been named Cathedral City’s assistant city manager.
Fuentes, Pico Rivera’s assistant city manager, was selected following a nationwide search that attracted more than 2,000 applicants, according to a statement on the city’s website.
“I am excited to have Katherine Fuentes join the Cathedral City Team,” City Manager Charlie McClendon said. “After careful consideration of all the candidates, Katherine rose to the top due to her innovative approaches to enhancing the quality of life in local communities.”
In 2017, Fuentes launched the Pico Rivera Innovative Municipal Energy program, which generated $14 million for the city.
Two years later, she acquired and converted 3,000 Southern California Edison streetlights to energy-saving LED, saving Pico Rivera more than $2.8 Million over 20 years, according to the statement.
