Planes on Runway at Ontario Airport

Ontario-Austin flights announced

Next spring, Southwest Airlines will begin offering non-stop flights between Ontario International Airport and Austin, Texas.

The daily flights to and from the Inland Empire and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport are scheduled to begin on March 10, according to a statement by the Ontario International Airport Authority.

Bookings for the flights are available at www.southwest.com.

“The addition of the Texas state capital to our route map is welcomed the news and further indication of confidence by Ontario International’s largest air carrier,” said Alan D. Wapner, President of the authority’s board of commissioners. “It is also another sign of Ontario International’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic is well underway and gaining momentum.”

The airport, which took a severe hit from the pandemic, also announced Thursday that passenger count last month was within seven percent of its count in August 2019.
