Ten Inland Empire nonprofits have received grants from Health Net that will help increase vaccinations in communities hit hard by COVID.
Those grants are part of $4.5 donation Health Net is making statewide to more than 80 nonprofits to increase vaccine equity, according to a statement.
“After serving California’s most vulnerable residents for more than four decades, we understand that healthcare is best delivered locally,” said Martha Santana-Chin, Medi-Cal president of Health Net, in the statement
“When we set out to dispel myths about the COVID-19 vaccines in regions with the lowest vaccination rates, we partnered with nonprofits that are trusted voices in their communities.”
The Inland agencies that received grants are:
- Black Women for Wellness
- Clinicas De Salud Del Pueblo
- LA Dept. Health Services
- LA Dept. of Public Health
- Leadership Counsel for Justice & Accountability
- Lestonnac Free Clinic
- Neighborhood Healthcare
- Unidos Por La Música
- Via Care Community Health Center
- Wesley Health Center
The amount received per agency was not released. Health Net, a longtime Medi-Cal partner, provides health insurance for an estimated three million Californians, according to the statement.
