Rialto Municipal Airport’s closing has been postponed.
The shutdown, which was supposed to have happened Sunday, was delayed because some airport tenants have not been moved, according to a report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
The airport’s closure has been rescheduled to Aug. 31.
Rialto Municipal Airport will be closed to make room for The Renaissance, a 1,439-acre residential and business center next to the Foothill Freeway that will include the 434-acre airport, according to the report.
The city has granted some hardship extensions that will allow some tenants to move out later this month. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s
aviation division is a tenant at the airport.
Rialto has spent more than $25 million moving airport tenants, according to the report.
