CSUSB receives 10-year accreditation

Cal State San Bernardino has received a 10-year accreditation from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges’ senior college and university commission.

The accreditation recognizes the university for a number of accomplishments, including its handling of the pandemic, its “highly inclusive” governing model and its “culture of continuous improvement,” according to a statement on the university’s website.

“This is well-deserved recognition of the hard work and determination of our campus community to make Cal State San Bernardino a leading institutions of higher education,” said university President Tomas D. Morales.

The accreditation, the maximum given out by the commission, was based on a report compiled by the review team that visited the campus for three days last September. The commission also reviewed reports and exhibits submitted by the university before the review.

The senior college and university commission accredits colleges and universities that award bachelor’s degrees or more advanced degrees. It works primarily in California, Hawaii and various U.S, territories and is accredited by the U.S. Department of Education, according to the association’s website.
