UC Riverside has been ranked the 33rd strongest public university in the United States by Forbes magazine.
Seventeen public universities, including several others in the University of California system, made the financial magazine’s top 50 list, according to a statement on the university’s website.
“Forbes top colleges ranking spotlights schools that offer an excellent education at a great price, graduate high-earners and propel students to become successful entrepreneurs and influential leaders in their fields,” the magazine stated.
The list, released, Aug. 30 is based mostly on data from two sources: the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System – IPEDS – and the College Scorecard. Several databases that measure graduates’ earnings were also used.
Forbes’ rankings emphasize students who graduate on time, secure high salaries, have low debt and have successful careers.
UC Riverside was 84th overall among 500 private and public universities considered for the Forbes list. MIT led this year’s list, with UC Berkeley and Stanford tied for second place.
