The Inland Empire recorded a 4.5 percent unemployment rate in February, adding 6,700 non-agricultural jobs during the month, according to data released today.

That was below California’s unadjusted 4.8 percent jobless rate but above the national 3.9 percent, the state Employment Development Department reported.

Total non-farm employment in the two-county region during the second month of the year was 1,668,900.

Leisure and hospitality added 3,200 jobs between January and February, the most of any sectors

Five other sectors added jobs month-over-month, including construction (2,800), private education and health services (2,600), and other services ( 1,600).

Three sectors – government, information, and mining and logging – posted no changes.

Trade, transportation, and utilities lost the most jobs, declining by 4,600 between January and February, the development department reported.
