Bed, Bath & Beyond to cease operations

Bed, Bath & Beyond filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Sunday and will close all of its stores.

The chain, which started in New Jersey in 1971, will close its 360 Bed Bath & Beyond stores and 120 BuyBuy Baby locations while it looks for buyers for its remaining assets, according to a statement released by the company.

Store closings are expected to start Wednesday. When that process is expected to be completed has not been announced.

There are 41 Bed, Bath & Beyond stores in California, including eight in the Inland Empire, according to the company’s website.

BuyBuy Baby has 15 California stores, three of which are in the Inland Empire, according to the website.
