SB County workforce board earns state honor

San Bernardino County’s workforce development board has been named one of the state’s top workforce boards.

The board, a volunteer group that oversees federal funding meant to strengthen the county’s labor pool, was recognized for its “success in transforming lives and strengthening business throughout the nation’s largest geographic county,” according to a statement on the county website.

The board, which also works on job retention, received a High Board designation, which covers the last three years, from the California Workforce Development Board. During that time, San Bernardino’s board exceeded state and federal standards in several categories, including training, strategic planning, and business services.

“This is a great honor for our county and the workforce development team and recognizes our unified commitment to creating opportunities for job seekers and job creators,” said Dawn Rowe, chair of the county board of supervisors, in the statement.
