Karthick Ramakrishnan, a professor of political science and public policy at UC Riverside, has been appointed to the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs.
Assembly Speaker Toni Atkins, D-San Diego, named Ramakrishnan to the 13-member panel, which advises then governor, state legislature and state agencies on issues that affect both of those communities, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.
The panel also advises the Asian and Pacific Islander communities and state and private programs that could be of help to them.
Ramakrishnan, the director of the National Asian American Survey and the Immigration Research Group at UC Riverside, began his four-year term on the commission Monday, according to the report.
