Ontario International Airport attracted more than 6.4 million passengers in 2023, a 12 percent increase compared with the previous year.
That was also nearly 850,000 more air travelers than the airport accommodated in 2019, the last full calendar year before COVID-19, according to data released Tuesday by the Ontario International Airport Authority.
Ontario International attracted 417,663 international passengers in 2023, breaking its previous record of 304,000 in 2019.
“The year-end numbers demonstrate why Ontario International is California’s favorite airport among airline passengers,” said Alan D. Wapner, president of the airport authority, in the statement. “Since the transfer of the airport to local ownership in 2016, we have focused on developing an aviation gateway that appeals to Inland Empire residents and Southern California visitors.”
In December, Ontario’s passenger volume reached 551,161, an increase of 15.4 percent compared with 2022. That was the 34th consecutive month Ontario International posted a year-over-year passenger increase, according to the statement.
