Actor-comedian Cheech Marin will receive UC Riverside’s highest honor this spring.
Marin will be presented the UCR Medallion April 6 at the inaugural UCR Honors: A Gala Celebration, a black tie event that will be held at Student Recreation Center Arena, according to a statement on the university’s website.
The event, a tribute to the school’s alumni, philanthropic, and humanitarian leaders, will raise money for student support initiates at UC Riverside.
Marin is being honored for his efforts in creating The Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture, which is home to his art collection. It opened in downtown Riverside in 2022.
