Moreno Valley wins workforce development award

Moreno Valley has been recognized for its promotion of workforce development.

The California Association for Local Economic Development has given Moreno Valley its Award of Excellence for Collaborations and Partnerships, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Moreno Valley’s Elevate MoVal program, a collaboration between the city, Moreno Valley College and local businesses, “benefits individuals by providing access to educational materials and technology, financial assistance, workplace apprenticeships, and other resources and support,” according to a statement on the city’s website.

Elevate MoVal focuses on getting high school students into college, then helps them earn enough money to remain there and get a degree. It also helps provide internships in the public and private sector.

“Empowering our youth and enhancing economic prosperity are top priorities for the City of Moreno Valley,” said Mayor Ulises Cabrera in the statement. “Receiving such a high honor from CALED is a testament to our local workforce development efforts.”
