Ontario International Airport expects to serve nearly 2.2 million passengers this summer, a 15.1 percent increase compared with last summer if that prediction is holds true.
An estimated 2,183,000 passengers are expected to pass through Ontario International between May 24, the Friday before Memorial Day, and Sept. 2, Labor Day, according to the Ontario International Airport Authority.
About 287,000 more passengers will fly into and out of Ontario International compared with the summer of 2023, when the passenger count was close to 1.9 million.
“We are anticipating the hustle and bustle of summer travel given high customer satisfaction for our gateway airport,” said Atif Elkadi, the authority’s chief executive officer in a statement.
Ontario International has added or expanded service to and from several U.S. markets during the past year, including Denver, El Paso, Houston, Phoenix and Portland. Airlines will provide more than 2.7 million seats this summer, about 80 percent of which will be occupied, according to the statement.
