Bobby Clemmer has been named Victorville’s fire chief.
A High Desert native and an Apple Valley High School graduate, Clemmer replaces interim Fire Chief William “Willie” Racowschi, who has held that position since December 2022, according to a statement on the city’s website.
“The opportunity to lead an organization full of individuals I have tremendous respect for is exciting,” Clemmer said in the statement. “I’ve been fortunate to lead this group in different situations over the past year, and I remain impressed with every single person’s skill set.”
Clemmer, who was sworn in last month, began his firefighting career in 2002 as a paid call firefighter in Barstow. He was eventually promoted to engineer and then captain.
Clemmer moved to Apple Valley fire seven years ago, where he was a captain and interim battalion chief. He was hired by Victorville Fire as a training battalion chief in February 2023.
