Frontier Communications has secured more than $23 million in governmental funding that will help pay for expanding high-speed fiber broadband service to homes and businesses in the Inland Empire.
The grants from the California Public Utilities Commission will improve education and business opportunities in parts of Riverside and San Bernardino counties, while continuing Frontier’s commitment to spreading the use fiber-optic technology, according a statement.
“These grants will help us expand access to our high-speed fiber internet to unserved and underserved communities in the state,” said Veronica Bloodworth, Frontier’s chief network officer in the statement. “That means more Californians will be able to benefit from all the opportunities that our fast, reliable fiber connectivity offers.”
Frontier Communications is based in Dallas. It provides broadband internet, digital television and technical computer support in 25 states, according to the company’s website.
