Riverside solicits Northside development proposals

Riverside is asking for development proposals for the city’s Northside neighborhood.

A “notice-of-availability” has been released regarding the 2,000-acre property, a cluster of neighborhoods north of the 60 Freeway and south of Colton, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Proposals will be for the first 126 acres. They must comply with the Northside Specific Plan, which contains guidelines for blending modern development into the neighborhoods.

Proposals should include recreation, trails, pathways, open space and mixed-use development. Also, any potential projects should connect with the Santa Ana River, the Village Center, Trujillo Adobe Heritage Village and downtown Riverside.

“The city has developed a specific vision for the Northside land tract that benefits both the community and potential business investors,” said City Manager Mike Futrell in the statement. “As the largest undeveloped land tract in Riverside, it offers enormous opportunity for community-friendly commercial development.”
