Perris and the Eastern Municipal Water District have agreed to consolidate the city’s water and sewer systems, a move that will impact about 4,000 city residents.
Beginning Oct. 15, the water district will be the water and wastewater provider for the Downtown Perris Water System and the North Perris Water System, replacing the city in both instances, according to a statement on the city’s website.
“This is a great example of two public agencies working together to provide the most effective and efficient service for their shared customers,” said EMWD Board Director Jeff Armstrong, who represents the Perris and Menifee areas, in the statement. “We look forward to bringing our new customers the same value, quality and reliability we have delivered to residents throughout the rest of the city for many years.”
The consolidation was approved in September. EMWD customers will see no financial or service-level impacts, according to the statement.
