Inland food bank helps Hurricane Helene victims

The lnland Empire’s largest food bank has donated 22,000 pounds of disaster relief boxes to victims of Hurricane Helene.

Feeding America Riverside/San Bernardino delivered 800 boxes that were assembled by volunteers at Aldi’s Moreno Valley distribution center, according to a statement released by the Riverside-based food bank.

Feeding America Riverside/San Bernardino’s main mission is to help Inland Empire families, but it will partner with other regional food banks in an extreme crisis.

“Food banks nationwide face increased pressure during natural disasters,” said Carolyn Fajardo, chief executive office of Feeding America Riverside/San Bernardino, in the statement. “After providing local relief, we were able to extend our support to southeast regions when nearby food banks began running low on essential supplies.”

Founded in 1980, Feeding America Riverside/San Bernardino js the primary source of emergency food supplies for more than 250 nonprofit organizations, distributing more than 2.7 million pounds of food monthly, according to the statement.
