Victorville is asking for volunteers to serve on a Measure P oversight committee.
That initiative was a general transaction and use tax approved by Victorville voters in November 2020, according to a statement on the town’s website.
The committee, which will be made up of residents who represent community stakeholder groups, will work with city staff. It will ensure all revenue generated by Measure P is spent correctly.
The city council will make the final appointments.
Anyone interested in serving must apply by April 21. Applications are available at VictorvilleCA.gov/mpoc.
The one-cent sales tax, which increased Victorville’s sales tax from 7.75 to 8.75 percent, started four years ago. The tax is collected at the point of sale, sent to the state Board of Equalization and forwarded to city every quarter, according to the statement.
