Riverside County residents who want to know how their tax dollars are spent may consult a guide recently launched by the city.
Budget 101: The County Budget Explained, is meant to “demystify” the county’s budget process in a number of areas, including housing, healthcare, roads, and emergency services, according to a statement on the county’s website.
The guide, which is available at www.RivCo.org/budget in English and Spanish, breaks down how the budget affects the programs and services people rely on every day.
“We created the Budget 101 guide to make our budget process easier to understand and more inclusive,” said Jeff Van Wagenen, the county’s executive officer, in the statement. “When residents are informed, they’re empowered to participate—and that leads to better policy decisions and stronger communities.”
