Two fair-housing organizations in the Inland Empire have received grants through the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The Inland Fair Housing and Mediation Board has been given $157,613 by the federal agency to help improve its investigations and education efforts into mortgage fraud, foreclosure repair schemes and predatory lending, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.
Also, the Ontario-based mediation board was given a $325,000 grant to help continue its enforcement work beyond one year.
The Riverside-based Fair Housing Council of Riverside County received $125,000, which it will use to host fair-housing education programs and outreach activities pay, the report stated.
Those grants were among $4.4 million given out recently by HUD to 17 fair housing and other non-profit agencies in California to help fight housing discrimination, according to the report.
