Nathan Mustafa has been named Riverside’s director of public works.
A Riverside employee for 13 years, Mustafa will oversee several areas, including streets, traffic, trash and recycling, parking, and tree trimming, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Mustafa been interim public works director for the past five months. He replaced Gil Hernandez, who was promoted to interim assistant city manager.
“Nathan is an outstanding professional and leader,” City Manager Mike Futrell said in the statement. “He has my full confidence in his ability to lead the public works department and serve the people of Riverside.”
Mustafa began working for Riverside in 2013 as an assistant engineer. In his new position, he oversees more than 300 employees and the city’s water quality control plant, according to the statement.
