Donnie Welch has been named publisher of the Victorville Daily Press.
Welch, who took over Monday, replaces Al Frattura, who left the paper in August after two years as publisher, according to a Daily Press report.
The 52-year-old Welch has worked in advertising, marketing, sales and employee development, and he has also co-owned a restaurant. He attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah and has worked for several newspapers, most recently overseeing revenue development at the Ventura County Star.
While in Ventura, Welch was in charge of budgeting, training, product development and multi-media.
Welch also helped refurbish the advertising department at the Honolulu Star-Bulletin, and he reversed a steep sales decline at the Burlington Free Press, a daily newspaper in Vermont, according to the report.
