ONT nearly back to pre-pandemic passenger levels

ONT has best October ever

Ontario International Airport has recorded its 44th consecutive month of year-over-year increases, according to a statement on the airport’s website.

In its busiest October ever, Ontario International accommodated 642,853 travelers, six percent more than October 2023, the Ontario International Airport Authority reported Nov. 20.

That number broke down to 609,773 domestic passengers and 33,080 international travelers, a year-over-year increase of 7.3 percent, and a decline of 13 percent, respectively.

During the first 10 months of this year, Ontario International welcomed 5.8 million passengers, nearly 11 percent more than the same period in 2023.

The airport is on pace to handle more than seven million passengers this year.

Air cargo – freight and mail – increased nearly 32 percent last month, to 79,886 tons, year-over-year. That improvement is attributed to more e-commerce activity before the holidays and some shippers shifting from ocean freight to air transport.

So far this year, air cargo totaled nearly 639,000 tons, an increase of 5.8 percent, the authority reported.
