ONT passenger count drops

In August, Ontario International welcomed 606,000 air travelers, down 6.2 percent from August 2025 as airlines reduced their capacities due to higher fuel prices.

Ontario International handled 71,344 tons of cargo in August, a 3.3 percent increase compared with August 2025. During the first eight months of the year, the airport move 574,783 tons of freight and mail, up 6.5 percent from one year earlier, according to the Ontario International Airport Authority.

In the first eight months of 2026, Ontario International Airport accommodated nearly 4.7 million air travelers, a 0.3 percent year-over-year increase.

Of those, 450,000 were international travelers, the result of an increased number of flights to Taiwan and Mexico, the authority reported.
