Lee C. McDougal has been named Riverside’s interim city manager.
McDougal, who spent 18 years as Montclair’s city manager before retiring in 2010, was appointed by a 7-0 vote Monday by the City Council, according to a report in The Press-Enterprise.
City Manager Scott Barber was scheduled to resign Tuesday.
McDougal’s contract, which could pay him approximately $141,000, runs to June 30 or until a permanent city manager is hired, the report stated.
McDougal, who was the first African-American city manager in the history of the Inland Empire, is president of the governing board of Chaffee College. He is a 1974 graduate of UC Riverside and a member of the school’s athletic hall of fame.
