Construction has begun on a medical office building at the Kaiser Permanente facility in Victorville.
The facility, called High Desert Medical Offices 2, will cover 8,700 square feet next to the healthcare provider’s facility at 14011 Park Ave., according to a report originally published in the Victorville Daily Press.
The project, which broke ground last month, is expected to open early next year. It will accommodate nine doctors and 16 examination rooms, according to the report.
Once the facility opens, Kaiser Permanente will have better technology with which to treat its patients, and the company’s estimated 67,000 members in the High Desert will have better access to healthcare.
Kaiser Permanente still does not have a hospital in the High Desert.
The company, one of the largest healthcare providers in the United States, needs about 150,000 members in a region to justify building a hospital, according to the report.
