Tune in to The Main Event this Saturday morning at 9:30 on AM590 with host Ed Hoffman as he discusses national current events and politics, with a few mortgage tips along the way. Ed delivers intelligent, entertaining radio that makes hard news easy to understand!
This week, Ed begins the show by talking about illegal immigration. Ed talks about his experience reading Ann Coulter’s new book “Adios, America!” According to Ed, Coulter’s book is about more than just illegal immigration; it’s about immigration as a whole and how the system creates a vicious cycle.
Next, Ed discusses the tragic death of Kathryn Steinle, who was gunned down by 45-year-old illegal alien Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez. Lopez-Sanchez had been deported five times and had seven felony convictions in the USA. Ed discusses his view on how the thought process behind the illegal immigration debate impacts every aspect of our society. “Everything is a freaking joke to our government since Obama took office,” Ed says. “We have a President who doesn’t communicate with the Congress. That’s an attitude that has trickled down to average Americans.”
According to Ed, Democrats are encouraging illegal immigration by promoting sanctuary cities. They’re doing this to help themselves politically: “Let them all cross the border because that’s more Democratic voters,” Ed says. “Fill this place with illegal immigrants. Don’t have voting ID laws because that’s anti-minority.”
In the second half, Ed welcomes guest retired Staff Sergeant Joey Jones, spokesperson and Chief Operating Officer for the national nonprofit the Boot Campaign. Jones, who lost both legs after stepping on an IED while deployed in Iraq in 2010, is a wounded warrior who is now key to educating the public on issues concerning veterans in a nonpartisan, inspiring way. “It’s been amazing to provide these opportunities that changed me along the way to so many other service members and veterans,” Jones tells Ed.
The Boot Campaign is a grassroots nonprofit that raises veteran cause awareness through pop culture, with dozens of celebrities participating by wearing Boot Campaign apparel at public events.
Jones also discusses the Boot Campaign initiative Push-Ups for Charity, which has a campaign goal is to raise $1 million to support active duty and veteran service members. The campaign will end August 15 with “The Final Push” on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. If you’re interested in participating, Wholesale Capital Corporation will be hosting the Push-Ups for Charity event on July 25th at 10:30 a.m. Click on the event link at http://www.edhoffman.net to donate to the cause.
