Sarjeet Gill has been elected a fellow of the Entomoligical Society of America.
Gill is a distinguished professor of cell biology and neuroscience and an entomologist at UC Riverside, according to a school release.
He is one of only 10 persons named to the society this year. He will be honored at the organization’s annual meeting in November in Minnesota.
Fellows are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the field of entomology, which is the study of insects.
“I truly appreciate ESA’s recognition, not only of my lab’s research but also that of my colleagues,” Gill said in the statement. “These collaborative efforts over the years contributed to our success. This recognition also continues to demonstrate UC Riverside’s preeminence in insect science.”
Gill has been a member of the faculty at UC Riverside since 1983, according to the statement.
