City moves forward on proposed Walmart

Moreno Valley has completed the final environmental impact report for a proposed Walmart in the south part of the city.

The project, which will be built on a vacant 21-acre parcel at the southwest corner of Gentian Street and Perris Boulevard, is scheduled for a public hearing before the planning commission on Oct. 8, according to a statement posted on the city’s website.

The store would cover 186,761 square feet.

The applicant is asking the city to divide the property into two parcels. The parcel next to the proposed store site could be used for a combination of projects, including a service station, convenience store, drive-thru car wash, retail building or a fast-food restaurant, according to the statement.
