Auto maker to hold Moreno Valley job fair

Fisker Automotive, the luxury automobile company that announced in August it will build a manufacturing plant in Moreno Valley, will hold a job fair in the city.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10 at the city’s Conference & Recreation Center, 14075 Frederick St., according to a statement posted on the city’s website.

Fisker will pay up to $26 an hour to fill positions in the company’s body shop, as well as some mechanical and quality control jobs.

Specifically, Fisker is looking for welders, fabricators, painters and production assemblers, along with some other positions, according to the statement.

The job fair is part of the eighth annual ArtoberFest, a cultural event that features displays by local artists, an automobile show, food vendors and entertainment.

Fisker, which expects to bring about 150 manufacturing jobs to Moreno Valley, will lease a 556,000 square-foot industrial building at 17100 Perris Blvd.

The assembly operation will be the first in Southern California since General Motors closed a manufacturing plant in Van Nuys in 1992.
