Marianna Marysheva-Martinez has been named an assistant city manager with Riverside.
Marysheva-Martinez is overseeing several departments, including finance, human resources, general services and internal audit, according to a city release.
She began work Oct. 19.
Before coming to Riverside, Marysheva-Martinez served in several high-level management positions with cities in California, including Mammoth Lakes, Lynwood, Oakland and Maywood.
While serving as Oakland’s budget director, Marysheva-Martinez oversaw a $2 billion budget and worked with Jerry Brown while Brown was mayor of that city.
Most recently, Marysheva-Martinez was managing director with FTI Consulting in Baltimore, where she advised government entities on financial issues while establishing the firm’s private sector practice.
Marysheva-Martinez will be paid a yearly salary of $212,594. She replaces Deanna Lorson, who stepped down to pursue other opportunities, according to the statement.
