The Riverside County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will consider a contract with a private health care consulting firm that would be hired to improve the financial condition of the county’s hospital.
Huron Healthcare has already received $1.59 million from the county to develop a plan to fix the finances at Riverside County Regional Medical Center in Moreno Valley, according to a report first published in The Press-Enterprise.
Under the agreement the board is scheduled to study next week, Huron Healthcare would get nearly $25.9 million from the county, including expenses.
Board members will also consider approving a $676,000 contract to Lowell Johnson, a specialist in assisting troubled hospitals who has been named the hospital’s temporary chief executive officer, according to the report.
The medical center is losing $4 million a month and is expected to have accumulated $50 million in losses when its fiscal year ends next June, according to the report.
