The Port of Los Angeles will host a local seminar next month on how businesses can use the export market to help themselves grow.
The Trade Connect Regional Trade Forum is scheduled to be held from 9 a.m. to noon March 2 at San Bernardino International Airport.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature speakers and panelists from the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration, U.S. Exim Bank and the Los Angeles Customs Brokers & Freight Forwarders Association, among other entities, said Jean Coronel, port spokeswoman.
About 150 people are expected to attend the conference. The event will focus primarily on the Far East, specifically the ASEAN Economic Community, a consortium that was formed last year to improve trade between that market and the rest of the world.
“Only about 15 percent of U.S. companies import at all, so there is a lot of room for businesses to expand oversees,” Coronel said.
