More than two-thirds of all businesses in the United States today are owned by women, according to recent study by the UC Riverside’s Center for Forecasting and Development.
Nearly 40 percent of all Inland Empire businesses are owned by women, according to the report, which is posted on the center’s website.
On the downside, most businesses owned by women are smaller, don’t generate as much revenue and don’t employ as many people as those owned by men, although their payrolls did grow during the recession while overall employment was dropping, the report noted.
