San Bernardino County has been recognized by the California State Association of Counties for four social programs the county implemented within the past year.
The programs involved teaching incarcerated youth about the judicial system, community outreach by law enforcement, helping families become self-sufficient and providing tax preparation for residents, according to a statement.
Every year, the association of counties recognizes “innovation and best practices” in county government. This year it received a record 279 entries from 41 counties throughout California.
Since 2010, San Bernardino County has won 14 awards from the association of counties, including three last year and five in 2013, according to the statement.
