Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl has joined the South Coast Air Quality Management District’s governing board.
Kuehl, who has supported water conservation and various recycling programs since being elected supervisor in 2014, was sworn in as a member of the district board on Jan. 6, according to a statement.
She served eight years in the state Senate and six years in the state Assembly, and was the first woman to be named Speaker Pro Tempore in the Assembly. During her time in the state legislature, Kuehl authored 171 bills that became law.
The district is the major air pollution control agency for Orange County and major parts of Los Angeles County and the Inland Empire.
