Bianca Rae, morning news anchor for KESQ-TV Ch. 3 in Thousand Palms, will receive a community service award from the Palm Springs Human Rights Commission.

Rae is being recognized for her work with the Bianca Rae Foundation, which she founded and serves as chief executive officer. The foundation serves animals and disadvantaged children, according to the KESQ website.

Rae is one of several community leaders scheduled to receive an award during a 3 p.m. ceremony Monday at the city council chamber at Palm Springs City Hall, 3200 E. Tahquitz Canyon Way, according to a statement.

Lesley Zerebny and Jose “Gil” Vega, both Palm Springs Police officers who died in the line of duty last October, also will be recognized.
