Riverside has shut down a marijuana dispensary that has been operating illegally.
Re-Up at 3532 Central Ave. was closed because of multiple fire, life and a safety violations, according to a statement posted Monday on the city’s website.
The business, near the 91 Freeway, was shuttered Thursday after it was found to be in violation of city zoning laws. Police, fire and code enforcement, in conjunction with the City Attorney’s office, carried out the closure, according to the statement.
“The City of Riverside does not permit dispensaries, so this business was operating without a permit and without a business license,” City Councilman Mike Soubirous, who represents the area, said in the statement. “It’s encouraging to see the City remove a non-permitted business that operated in disregard of zoning laws and other safety requirements.”
