Moreno Valley will hold a special election June 6 to fill the District Four seat on the city council.
The vacancy was created when Yxstian Gutierrez, who represented District Four, was elected the city’s first directly elected mayor on Nov. 8, according to a statement.
The winner will serve the remainder of the current council term, which ends in November 2018. Candidates must be 18 years old, registered to vote and live within the borders of District Four as they were drawn in 2014.
Anyone interested should call the city clerk’s office at (951) 413-3009 to schedule an appointment. Candidates must fill out paperwork to get their name on the ballot.
