The San Bernardino Community College District, which owns and operates KVCR-TV, expects to receive more than $157 million from the Federal Communications Commission by the end of this year.
The district, which includes San Bernardino Valley and Crafton Hills colleges, will receive the money in exchange for vacating its bandwidth, according to a statement on the television station’s website.
Mobile and wireless providers will use the space once it becomes available. KVCR’s service will remain the same and its viewers aren’t expected to notice any changes.
Station officials, who learned of the FCC’s decision last week, are still figuring out what they will do with the extra cash, according to the statement.
